My project goal is a symmetric series. I tried to express abstract words clearly with sound. In other words, I started this project to write poems with sound, and I mainly tried to mix the confrontational and extreme two-sided elements.

I thought that a certain style was needed for poetic storytelling, so I decided to borrow Shakespeare’s sonnet, a formula with strict forms and specific structures, and integrate it with the project.

First of all, I chose 6 sound keywords with symmetry.

1. Inside and outside

2. Life and death

3. Night and day

4. Weekdays and weekends

5. Offline and Online

6. Horizontal and vertical

Secondly, I chose the rules for expressing sound.

1. Sound total length 2 minutes

2. Symmetric variation 1 minute

3. 5 Sound Variation

Finally, I adopted a three-tiered sheet music as a form.

1. Physical rhythm

2. Emotional rhythm

3. Intellectual rhythm

I went through 3 sheet music sketches after finishing all the sound work. For the first round, digital sketches were used to sort out the sounds and words used in the sounds. In the second round, we studied the expression method of sheet music. In the 3rd hand sketch, I combined the existing rules of sheet music and proceeded with my own sheet music work.

My score is characterized by a geometric form of notes, and you can see that the notes above and below are symmetrical in the middle, so you can see them expressed upside down.

I. Inside and outside

It’s a work that expresses the inner and outer spaces. In this work, we intended to mix a lot of sound, to create a chaotic and unexpected situation outside, and to clearly show a comfortable atmosphere in the inner space.

II. Life and death

It is a work that expresses life and death. Life consists of heart sounds as the base, and as the age of crying increases, I wanted to give a dramatic impression. In this work, I wanted to express the complex time clearly.

III. Night and day

Day and night were safeguards’ whistles along the coast, inspired by the division of the boundary between day and night, and tried to express the boundaries.

IV. Weekdays and weekends

It’s a work that expresses weekdays and weekends. One person expressed a difficult weekday with the strange sound and sighs he heard when he went to work on weekdays. We expressed the gap between weekdays and weekends by inserting cheerful jazz symmetrically starting from 1 minute.

V. Offline and Online

Online and offline space is a work aimed at criticizing contemporary exhibition humans whose behavior is often changed based on inside and outside SNS.

VI. Horizontal and vertical

I wanted to express the intersection between the two by swimming horizontally and vertically, and by expressing the water horizontally and vertically.
