In Mexico City in the 1950s, an American immigrant in his forties lives a lonely life in the middle of a small American community. However, the arrival of a young student finally forces the man to establish a meaningful connection with someone. Daniel Craig was ultimately the one to convince Luca Guadagnino to play Drew Starkey after watching the audition tapes with Guadagnino and telling him "It' is a man" after watching Starkey… William Lee: Sit on your ass! The main reason is that the film was too abstract and felt like a stream of consciousness. The overall meaning is to explore the loneliness of a queer heart, the difficulty of making connections with others, the pain of not being able to be loved, and the complex emotions of depression. However, the performance technique is very fluid, especially the last 20 minutes, which have almost no lines and serve to fully express the inner world of the male protagonist through various blurs, hallucinations and abstract art forms. Although I understood what the director wanted to express, the form of expression may not be acceptable to the audience and at one point I wanted to leave the scene.
