A Festa do Santo Reis written by Léo Maia (as Marcio Leonardo) performed by Tim Maia. “I’m Still Here” A film about a period in Brazilian history full of fear, censorship and torture that will never return. Director Walter Salz, however, subtly develops the theme and shows us a united, loving family, yearning for the return of their missing father and husband.
A place full of love and tenderness
There are many moments where you can relate to Yunis’ pain and imagine how brutal the military dictatorship must have been. The film has some touching moments and builds a place where you feel close to this family. Fernanda Torres’ performance is incredible, and she truly deserves all the nominations she will receive in the upcoming awards season.
The entire cast is fantastic
Selton Melo Rubens is also excellent as Paiva. We also have the sublime Fernanda Montenegro as the older Eunice Paiva. The film is technically beautiful, with a stunning depiction of Rio de Janeiro in the 1970s.
It can enlighten, delight and move you to tears
I speak for most Brazilians when I say that it would make a lot of sense for Brazil to be nominated for the Oscars, but it is nevertheless a must-see, a recent masterpiece of Brazilian cinema that you must see.
