An interesting take on the underground bunker story, the story of a people who lived underground for so long that a civilization developed within them, with traditions, myths, beliefs, rituals, and ceremonies rooted in forgotten events. and a status quo social structure emerges. And when the status quo that maintains order is challenged, enforcement and punishment are meted out. A power structure emerges that creates a figuratively and literally stratified population from the top of the silo to the bottom. That’s the premise, and while it’s not entirely original (think Snowpiercer, Dark City, etc.), there’s enough novelty here that it seems to be done well for a TV series. Oyelowo’s performance is good, with familiar faces in Rashida Jones and Will Patton. (But as you can see from the show’s poster, they’re guest stars who give way to the regular cast, starring Rebecca Ferguson.) The show seems pretty decent, with good production values. There are elaborate sets and good computer-generated special effects that provide a believable atmosphere. Although a suspicious mind will pick up on some obvious conspiracies at first, there are mysteries that will be revealed and will keep you watching.
